The main entrance road to the Accompong Town Maroon Village in the Cockpit Country in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica on a cool evening. Two green maroon horns sit above the posts along either side of the gate and the blue sign to the Left says welcome to a Accompong and there are no people in the scene. Here at Accompong, Norris, as a tour guide, would carry his private tour guests of travelers visiting Jamaica. There are many palm trees and other lush vegetation all around.

Maroon Village Tour of Accompong

Accompong. Where Jamaican history comes alive. You won’t regret a visit to Accompong Town, an authentic Maroon village in the hills of Cockpit Country. The Maroons are descendants of enslaved West Africans first brought to Jamaica by the Spanish. Since 1738, the Maroons have lived mostly in their own communities largely separate from other Jamaicans. At Accompong, you can tour the village, take in the rich history at the museum all while surrounded by gorgeous and serene mountain views.
