Jump in, let’s cruise on an unforgettable cultural escape with Island Turf Tours!
We journeyed into the mountains of St. Elizabeth for a personalized visit to Accompong Maroon Village, founded in 1739 by West African tribal warriors. Today’s Maroons proudly uphold traditions passed down through generations. “KINDAH,” meaning “One Family,” still defines the village spirit. With rich storytelling, scenic views, and cultural artifacts, Accompong offers a truly authentic and educational glimpse into Jamaica’s heritage.

After our tour, we headed to Border for lunch in search of the freshest, locally caught fish. This vibrant roadside spot is lined with food stalls serving up authentic Jamaican fare, rich in tradition and flavor. Pictured here is our escovitch-style snapper, seasoned with Scotch bonnet, pimento, and pickled vegetables, fresh off the wood fire, alongside boiled corn, a classic local side. All prepared right in front of us, just as it’s been done for generations.
Thanks to our guests for joining us on this beautiful adventure and for wanting to know more about our land and our people. Jah bless! 🇯🇲
